First of all, what are Chemical Peels anyway?
Basically, peels are an aesthetics treatment where we apply an acid solution that helps slough off the top layers of skin. Peels work by speeding up natural exfoliation to reduce decades of fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots, acne + scars, and uneven skin tone. Outlast Aesthetics offers peels to patients who desire effective anti-aging results and a profoundly smoother and younger complexion.
A chemical peel is one of the safest procedures for overall skin restoration.
Are there different types of peels?
Chemical Peels come in varying strengths. The stronger, or “deeper” the peel, the more substantial the change.
Superficial Peels:
The mildest of chemicals penetrate only the top layer of the skin. This is helpful for mild discoloration and rough texture.
Medium Peels:
Getting a little stronger here, the chemicals in a medium peel reach a little deeper, and the middle layers of the skin are exfoliated. Medium peels are effective for fine line and wrinkles, discoloration, and sun/age spots.
Deep Peels:
The strongest peel you can get, deep peels penetrate middle layers of the skin, having a dramatic effect on the skin. These are most useful for scars, very deep wrinkles and severe sun damage.
What peels are offered at Outlast Aesthetics?
At Outlast, we stand strong by our SkinBetter AlphaRet 30 Peel, containing a blend of Lactic, Glycolic and Salicylic Acids. It is a lower dose peel that is very well-tolerated and addresses mild to moderate discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and acne lesions.
We especially love that this peel has no downtime.
What can I expect during my treatment?
We start by thoroughly cleansing your skin and covering your hair.
Then, we apply the pre-peel solution before the AlphaRet 30 Peel, which is applied for less than 3 minutes.
We then remove the peel, cleanse your skin and apply SkinBetter Science Alto Serum to soothe and calm your skin.
The entire treatment takes less than 30 minutes. There is no downtime, and you can resume your normal activities post-peel (with the exception of strenuous exercise for 24 hours).
How much will my skin peel?
It really depends on the strength of the peel, but with our SkinBetter AlphaRet 30 Peel, you will experience some redness after the peel is applied, which will last for a few hours. Dryness and mild peeling will start 48-72 hours post-treatment, and last for 2-5 days. It is imperative to maintain a good skincare regimen at home between peels, and we’re happy to discuss our must-haves with you! The effects of the peel are cumulative, and keep getting better.
Do I need more than one treatment?
At Outlast Aesthetics, for optimal results we recommend one peel every four weeks, for three months.
In essence, the main benefits of chemical peels are increased cell turnover for clearer skin, reduced signs of aging, and a more even complexion.
An ideal Fall treatment to reverse the damage from the summer sun!
